Over the past year alone, the number of people who received consultations of Agora lawyers exceeded 400 thousand, including personal consultations and the help of telegram bots. We recall eight high -profile and successful Aggers of Agora over the different years of its existence.
In 2012, Ekaterina Samutsevich from Pussy Riotwas sentenced to two years in a colony for holding a punk-spring “The Virgin, Putin Drive” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The other two members of the group Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova received the same terms. After the verdict was issued, Samutsevich refused the services of lawyer Violetta Volkova and, together with lawyer Irina Khrunova from Agora, appealed the decision of the trial court. Khrunova changed the tactics of the defense: she insisted that Ekaterina Samutsevich really did not manage to participate in the shares, since the guard did not let her in to the altar. In 2010, the participants of the War art group held a “Palace Revolution” campaign near the Mikhailovsky castle in St. Petersburg, during which several vehicles of non-departmental security controls at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the traffic police turned over. Against the participants of the action Oleg Vorotnikov and Leonid Nikolaev opened a criminal case under the article “Hooliganism committed based on hatred or enmity against any social group”. They spent three months in jail, and then were released on bail. Vorotnikova and Nikolaev was defended by the lawyers of the Agora Dmitry Dinze and Svetlana Sidorkina. In November 2011, expertise data were published: in the actions of the “war” activists , they did not find signs of inciting hatred or enmity, and in 2012 the case was discontinued . The group sacrificed Agore, which defended its participants, the Innovation Cash Prize, received for the action “Dick in captivity at the FSB”.
On May 31, 2008, in the premises of the transit point of colony No. 1 of Kopeisk, the deputy chief of the colony Evgeny Cities and Rais Mukhametov with other employees beat 12 convicted colony. Four people died, the rest were injured of varying severity. According to the investigation, the head of the colony Vladimir Zhidkov, having learned about what happened, tried to hide the crime of his subordinates. The employees who participated in the beating were ordered to cause bodily harm in order to stage the attack by prisoners, who allegedly forced them to use force. During the trial, the interests of the victims - eight surviving prisoners - represented the lawyer of Agora Igor Sholokhov. As a result, Flikov received a suspended term, and eight warders, found guilty directly in the beating of convicts, received from nine to 12 years a maximum security colony.
Police Major Denis Evsyukov, on the night of the 26th to 27th April 2009, opened firing at the Moscow Superman "Ostrov": as a result, a cashier and one of the visitors of the store died, seven more were injured. In 2018, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation recognized the constitutional of the Constitution a ban on adoption of children by people with HIV. The court made this decision, considering the case of a married couple from the Moscow Region: a woman in 2012 was infected with HIV and hepatitis C in the hospital. Her sister, having given birth to a child, abandoned parental rights in favor of the couple, but did not give the spouses to adopt a baby to the spouses. The interests of a woman with HIV and her husband represented "Agora." As a result, the Constitutional Court agreed that the “main considerations” when transferring the child to parents should be “the best provision of the interests of the child and his need for love”, and not a medical diagnosis.
On May 11, 2017, the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburgsentenced Blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky to three and a half years in prison for insulting the feelings of believers. Sokolovsky was arrested in the fall of 2016 for playing the Pokemon Go in the Yekaterinburg Temple on the blood (the game involves catching virtual Pokemon). The examination found that by his actions, Sokolovsky equated Jesus with Pokemon and Zombies. The lawyer of the Agora Vitaly Cherkasov appealed to the Sverdlovsk Regional Court, which on July 7 reduced a suspended term of to two years and three months.

On July 15, 2016, Magomed Doliev was delivered to the ED center in Nazran - they demanded to confess to the robbery of the Rosselkhozbank, in which the wife of Doliev worked as a cashier. A confession was knocked out of the suspect: he was tortured with electric shock and strangled. A few hours later, the sovereigns died; The examination showed that he suffocated. Doliev’s wife was also tortured: she was put on a bag on her head and beat her face. One of the police officers invited the woman to listen to how her husband screams on the floor: “Do you know? Do you want to hear how he yells? "
A criminal case on torture was opened against the operatives. During the trial, the victim was represented by Agora. As a result, six security officials from Ingushetia, including the ex-head of the regional center of “E” Timur Khamkhoev, received prison terms from three to ten years. Mother Magomed Doliev’s lawyer received a compensation for her in the amount of 1.5 million rubles.
One of the defendants in Moskovsky, Sergei Abanichev participated in the action for honest elections to the Moscow City Duma on July 27, 2019. On August 3, Abanichev was detained and accused of participating in the riots and the provision of armed resistance to government officials: according to the investigation, he threw a tin bank at the policeman. Abanichev himself said that he threw aside a paper cup from the “burger King”. The court chose the accused measure of restraint in the form of detention, but on September 3, Abanichev was released, and the criminal case was closed.
Later, the Moscow City Court recovered compensation in the amount of 150 thousand rubles in favor of the defendant. All this time, the interests of Sergei Abanicheva were represented by Svetlana Sidorkina, the lawyer of Agora, also known for the protection of graduate student Azat Miftakhova.
