Channel One released an emergency news release dedicated to the “rebellion” of the founder of the Wagner PMC, Evgeniy Prigozhin.
The several-minute episode was released at 01:30 Moscow time, four hours after Prigozhin’s first statements.
Presenter Ekaterina Andreeva reported that “on behalf of Prigozhin,” statements began to spread on social networks on the evening of June 23 that the Ministry of Defense had struck the camp of Wagner PMC fighters, and then a video appeared of the alleged consequences of the strike. She also noted that Prigozhin called for settling scores with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
Andreeva, with reference to the Rybar telegram channel, stated that the video was staged.
After this, the presenter read out official messages from the Ministry of Defense and the FSB, and also said that President Vladimir Putin had been informed about the incident. Separately, Andreeva drew attention to the fact that the FSB called Prigozhin’s orders “criminal and treasonous.”
