Sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of Vera Pekhteleva in 2020, Vladislav Kanyus left prison and went to war. This was reported by human rights activist Alena Popova, referring to the relatives of the deceased.
According to Pekhteleva's mother, she saw a photo of her daughter's killer with weapons and in camouflage on social networks, after which she contacted the Federal Penitentiary Service to find out where he was. The department's response stated that on April 28, Kanyus "departed at the disposal of the GUFSIN in the Rostov Region."
“The letter was signed at the end of April, and it turned out in Oksana's mailbox on June 14th. Vera's relatives do not respond to complaints about the lack of information on the stay, the movement of Kanyus, ”Popova said.
She noted that Kanyus went to the front even before the scheduled consideration of the cassation appeal against his sentence.
“How should a cassation session be held by videoconference if a maniac, fanatic, murderer is most likely out of the zone? Can someone explain to me how I can live with this? This monster, being freed from a criminal offense, having escaped from the front or switched sides, can at any moment kill each of us, the victims, out of revenge, ”said Pekhteleva’s mother.
In January 2020, 23-year-old Vera Pekhteleva came to her ex-boyfriend Vladislav Kanyus to pick up things. At about 3 am, neighbors heard screams from Kanyus' apartment. They continued for over three hours. During this time, the neighbors called the police seven times, but no one came to the call.
Then the neighbors themselves broke down the door to Kanyus' apartment and found him and Pekhteleva's body there. Later, the medical examiner found more than 50 different injuries on him - cut wounds, strangulation marks, broken bones and bruises. At the trial, Kanyus pleaded not guilty.
