How to live with unwanted

Instructions from the editor-in-chief of "Novo-Europe"

The authorities of the Russian Federation declared a “new newspaper Europe” “undesirable organization”, that is, they actually banned us.

This decision causes dual feelings. On the one hand, I think that we are not criminals, but simply do our job. We talk about the disaster, which followed after February 24, 2022, without censorship. Attempts by the Russian authorities to hinder us a lot of inconvenience and general annoyance. I am with full understanding of the fact that some of our heroes and authors after this decision will prefer to stay safe.

On the other hand, when the authorities of the Russian Federation are allowed into the explanations of how bad we are, they use incredible arguments: they say, we disseminate information about the violation of human rights in Russia, and we also argue that the Russian Federation wages an aggressive war against Ukraine.

That is, we are persecuted for telling the truth, like hundreds of our compatriots who are judged for calls for the world.

And when real criminals, some of whom have already received an invitation to the Hague, prohibit the “new newspaper Europe”, this means that our journalists work well.

Of course, we will not stop. Then I want to explain what we can recommend to you, because we certainly do not want individual repressions against readers, heroes and experts. Your safety will now be the main priority of the New-Europe.

Firstly, if you are in Russia or have Russian citizenship and are going to visit the country, laws forbid you to make donations of the New-Europe . We do not ask them, sending us money from the country is now technically impossible. But please support honest journalists who have not yet entered the “criminals” lists - you know how to find them.

But if you are safe, you are not going to Russia or you do not have a Russian passport, we will be happy with donations . Thanks to your support, we know that our work is necessary and important, and this allows us to maintain a high moral spirit in our “unwanted organization”.

Secondly, the same rule applies to references to the materials of the New-Europe : if you are in Russia, please do not replace our materials on social networks and do not even refer to them in your own texts or scientific work. This can serve as the basis for persecution.

Thirdly, check your social networks over the past year (we are only a year!) And if necessary, delete links to us for this period, because the Russian authorities can consider such archival links “consuming offenses”.

If you do not plan visits to Russia, you can now support us by telling us about our texts and videos in your social networks. It is really important for us to see this support.

Now a few words about the degree of danger.

If you read the “New Gazeta Europe”, nothing threatens you, even if law enforcement agencies find out about it. Reading in Russia is not yet prohibited.

It is also safe to receive and read our newsletters . Just do not send letters from the New-Europe to friends-this can be considered a “distribution”.

It is safe to use our VPNOVAA service: on the user side, it is arranged so that it is impossible to prove “undesirable connections”. We recommend using our or other VPN proven in order to stay in touch and reduce the risks of analyzing your Internet traffic by the authorities.

Investigative actions about “cooperation with undesirable” are arranged mainly as the manufacture of screenshots from social networks and sites, so if (not) the competent authorities of the Russian Federation has nothing to profit from your pages on social networks, you are safe.

The Law on “undesirable organizations” (in this term I see some psychoanalytic drama, as if the Russian authorities were still shy about to directly ban the media, but operated on the Freudian term “desires”) cannot be applied to citizens of other countries, this is a special muck invented for Russians by our legislators.

At the same time, the State Duma is under consideration by the bill, according to which cooperation with any non -governmental organizations not registered in the Ministry of Justice can be announced. After the adoption of this law, the status of an “unwanted organization” will be finally depressed.

And now, for the “discrediting of the army”, the same calls to the world of people are fined and punished much more severely than for all known cases of “cooperation with unwanted organizations”. For the first episode of “Cooperation”, only an administrative fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles is laid - a real nonsense against the backdrop of the Stalinist terms for activists who opposed the war.

Each person who retained his conscience after February 24, 2022 risks being a “criminal” in the Russian Federation. For us, this is not a reason to agree with the war.
