Biden: It is possible to discuss the adoption of Ukraine in NATO only after the war

US President Joe Biden went to Europe, on the eve of the NATO summit in Vilnius. His first stop was London, where he is going to meet with the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

One of the topics of the negotiations will be the concern of London by the supply of American cassette ammunition Kyiv. Great Britain spoke out against these supplies, since these ammunition is a danger to the civilian population.

Great Britain is one of the 123 countries that signed the Convention on Cassette Munitions, which prohibits the production or use of this weapon.

Ukraine previously promised that it would not use these weapons in areas with the civilian population, and would strictly control their use.

After London Biden, go to Vilnius, where the NATO summit will be held on July 11-12.

The day before, in an interview with SI-EN-EN, the US President said that Ukraine is not yet ready for membership in NATO. According to him, the North Atlantic Union will be able to consider the adoption of Ukraine to the organization only after the end of the war.

Biden referred to an article by the NATO charter about mutual defense, which undertakes NATO members to protect “every inch” of each other, which, according to the US president, means that if the war continues, then all NATO countries will be at war with Russia.

On the postponement of Ukraine’s entry into NATO, fearing that this could lead to war with Russia, Germany also insists. At the upcoming meeting with the allies, Berlin is going to call to focus on security guarantees and long -term support of Ukraine.

Over the past few weeks, the United States, Britain, France and Germany discussed this issue with Kyiv.
