In Finland, new restrictions on the entry of Russians began to operate

In Finland, from Monday, new restrictions on entering the country of Russian citizens, as well as to move to other countries through Finnish territory, are beginning to operate.

Russians who have real estate in Finland will need not only documents proving ownership, but also the basis for personal presence.

For entrepreneurs, Finland can now only be “the end point of the trip in the necessary business activities that provide for the personal presence of a person”, but not a country of transit during a business trip.

For students from Russia, entry to Finland for study will be resolved only if the purpose of the trip is to receive professional or other qualifications (degree).

In all cases, the grounds for entering Finland must be proved at the border control point by providing the relevant documents.

Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the closure of the Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg and the expulsion of nine diplomats. Moscow accuses Helsinki of "anti -Russian policy" and threatens the answer for "pumping up Kyiv by Western weapons."

• Since September 2022, Finland, like many other European countries in response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, reduced the issuance of visas for Russians by half.
• On April 27, Russia froze the accounts of Finland's diplomatic missions in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
• In January, it became known that Finland froze Russian assets in the amount of 187 million euros. This was done as part of the sanctions imposed on Russia due to military invasion of Ukraine.
