On the firstday of the Summit of the country, NATO participants agreed to simplify the process of Ukraine’s entry, but did not invite the country to the Alliance. The allies said that they would invite Ukraine to the alliance when all members of the bloc agree to this, and official Kyiv will fulfill some conditions (the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says that he does not know what conditions we are talking about). Zelensky participated in the first meeting of the Council of Ukraine - NATO, created on the basis of the Ukraine -NATO commission (existed since 1997). The meeting was attended by the leaders of the alliance countries, including the key allies of Ukraine - the leaders of the United States and Great Britain. According to Zelensky, the creation of the Council "gives us the feeling that we will be part of the alliance." During the day, Zelensky also held many meetings with the leaders of NATO countries, including with US President Joe Biden.

The countries of the "Great Seven" accepted a statement of security guarantees for Ukraine. The G7 countries agreed to provide Kiev with military and financial support, continue the exchange of intelligence information, and also promised to take immediate measures if Russia re -attacks Ukraine after the completion of the current conflict. Also, countries promised to work with Ukraine on "specific bilateral long -term obligations and security agreements." “Our support will remain for a long time in the future. This is a powerful statement about our commitment to Ukraine, ”said Joe Biden, speaking along with Zelensky and the leaders of the“ big seven ”at the summit. Before arriving in Vilnius, Zelensky accused NATO countries of “weakness” because of the uncertainty of Ukrainian membership in the Alliance.
