War

• On the final day of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G7 countries signed a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine. On the sidelines of the summit, Ukrainian Presidents Vladimir Zelensky and US President Joe Biden held talks: they discussed the supply of long-range missiles. Zelensky assessed the meeting as “very good”. Also today, the first meeting in the NATO-Ukraine Council format took place, which highlights a new level of cooperation.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also reported that 11 countries have created a coalition to train Ukrainian Armed Forces pilots on F-16 fighters. Training could begin as early as August.

• The head of the SVR, Sergei Naryshkin, said that at the end of June, CIA Director William Burns called him. According to Naryshkin, they “thought and discussed what to do with Ukraine,” TASS reports . He did not rule out the possibility of a personal meeting.
• Sergei Denisenko, detained yesterday on suspicion of murdering the deputy head of the mobilization department in Krasnodar, Stanislav Rzhitsky, confessed . He says he was “recruited by Ukrainian intelligence.” Kyiv denies involvement in the murder.
