The damage from the clash of tankers in the Irkutsk region amounted to 839 million

The damage from the leakage of oil products after a collision of tankers on the Lena River amounted to 839 million rubles, said State Duma deputy from the Irkutsk region George Arapov with reference to the response from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The answer states that 82 tons of fuel resulted in the river. Previously, the damage was evaluated by the fraternal department of the state environmental supervision of the Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor. The final amount will be established by a forensic examination, following which the authorities will send a lawsuit to compensate for damage.

• Two tankers, one of whom transported gasoline, collided on the Lena River in the Irkutsk region on June 12. According to regional authorities, from 60 to 90 tons of gasoline could be in the Lena water area. The head of the region Igor Kobzev said that the driver of one of the tankers was drunk.
