The case of Sachkov, who was arrested in September 2021, has been considered behind closed doors in the Moscow City Court since the beginning of July. The plots of the cases under the article on treason (275 of the Criminal Code) are classified.
Sachkov himself wrote that he was accused of transferring “more than 10 years ago” to the US government data about Russian hackers, which he learned from the then head of the FSB Information Security Center Sergei Mikhailov, who oversaw the IT sector. in 2019 Mikhailov was subsequently sentenced to 22 years in prison on charges of treason due to collaboration with the FBI.
According to the 37-year-old founder of Group-IB , his persecution was the revenge of Mikhailov and his deputy and successor at the post, Oleg Kashentsov, due to the fact that Sachkov “drew the attention of the FSB Internal Security Service officers to the crimes” of Mikhailov himself.
