The forces of the Wagner PMC in Belarus are commanded by a former Russian paratrooper originally from Ukraine

The All Eyes on Wagner project, which monitors the activities of the PMC Wagner, has identified the commander of its mercenary forces in Belarus.

It turned out to be a native of Ukraine Sergey Chubko. On July 19, during his speech at the new Wagner PMC base in Belarus, the founder of the company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that a certain Sergey with the call sign Pioneer was becoming “a senior in the direction of Belarus”.

According to All Eyes on Wagner, we are talking about 46-year-old Sergei Vladimirovich Chubko, who was born in the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi. In turn, the journalists of the Belarusian edition "Nasha Niva" specify that "Pioneer" was born in the family of a military man who served in Afghanistan.

According to All Eyes on Wagner, after the collapse of the USSR, the Chubko family moved from Ukraine to Russia and settled in Novorossiysk. In 1994, Sergei Chubko signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, according to which he served in the Airborne Forces until 2002. During this time, he managed to take part in the war in Chechnya. After retiring from the army, Chubko went to work in a private security company.

In 2003, Sergei Chubko took the post of head of the committee on youth affairs in the mayor's office of Novorossiysk, and in 2005 he moved to the position of deputy head of the administration of the Myskhak rural district.

Chubko joined PMC Wagner in 2017. Together with other mercenaries, he took part in the fighting in Syria. So, Chubko was part of a group that came under fire in the province of Deir ez-Zor in 2018.

After Syria, Chubko went to Libya, where he headed the Wagner PMC headquarters, and in 2021 became the head of its operations department in the Central African Republic.
