Prigozhin probably attended the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg

The founder of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, probably attended the Russia-Africa summit, which is taking place in St. Petersburg. His photograph, together with a representative of the Central African Republic, was published by the head of the Russia House in the Central African Republic, Dmitry Syty.

“Mr. Ambassador shared with me the first photos of the Russia-Africa summit. We see familiar faces, ”Syty signed the photo. This is the only post on his Facebook page. There is no other evidence that Prigozhin is currently in St. Petersburg.

At the same time, the Agency writes that the photo was taken not at the forum itself, but, presumably, at the Trezini Palace hotel on Universitetskaya embankment. There, the publication was told that they could not confirm or deny that representatives of the Central African Republic were staying with them. Earlier, Fontanka reported that Trezini Palace belongs to structures that are associated with the Prigozhin family.

At the same time, the representative of the Central African Republic in the photo shows a ribbon from the badge - the same ones are worn by visitors to the Russia-Africa forum, the Agency claims. It is possible that Prigozhin did not attend the forum itself, but, judging by the photo, he met with its participants.

On June 23, Prigozhin accused the Ministry of Defense of a missile attack on the rear camps of Wagner PMCs. He called Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu a "creature" and urged "to restore justice in Russia." Prigozhin's mercenaries began to march on Moscow. In Rostov-on-Don, they occupied several military facilities. The next day, after negotiations with Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin announced that he was deploying columns of Wagner PMCs.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Prigozhin for preparing an armed rebellion, but it was closed on July 27. PMC Wagner mercenaries moved their base to Belarus.
