A criminal case was opened against a 67-year-old pensioner from Novosibirsk on three counts because of two comments on VKontakte, said Novosibirsk City Council member Svetlana Kaverzina, who received a letter from the accused.
The case of public calls for terrorism and extremism on the Internet, as well as calls for mass riots, according to the Novosibirsk resident, was opened in February (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code, Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code and Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code). According to the pensioner, he is being persecuted for “protest comments, very sharp, in their opinion (the security forces - MZ), against the SVO and mobilization, associated with the arson of the Leninist military registration and enlistment office."
The man underwent two searches. “The full program, with breaking the door and interrogation until five in the morning, but I can’t stand such fun anymore, because I’m 67 years old, I’ve been retired for a long time. At first they suspected me of arson, because... the real arsonist was not found, and they fingered me, took saliva, and drained gasoline samples from the garage for analysis,” the accused told Kaverzina.
According to the pensioner, security forces at his home “stomped on vegetables, tomatoes and pasted obscene inscriptions,” and also took away his tablet and hard drives. In addition, his bank card was blocked. Now the Novosibirsk resident is under recognizance not to leave.
In Kaverzina’s letter, he introduced himself as “Ar...ov T...r R....vich.” A resident of Novosibirsk named Takhir Arslanov was added to the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists on January 27 of this year. This list includes suspects and defendants under “extremist” and “terrorist” charges, and their Russian accounts are blocked.
“My daughter lives in Kyiv, when they started bombing, I just lost my mind and started writing anti-war comments. My child spent the night in a bomb shelter, you know?” told the Novosibirsk resident SotaVision. The case against him will be considered by the 1st Eastern District Military Court in Khabarovsk. The first on-site hearing will take place on August 2 at the Novosibirsk Garrison Military Court, information about this is in the court file.
“I really have up to seven years in total, based on three episodes. And apparently I won’t leave there anymore. Therefore, just in case, goodbye, my friends and comrades in the Coalition 2020 movement, which I have always supported, and even had a couple of administrative jobs for you,” the accused wrote to deputy Kaverzina.
