In Yakutia, the director of a boarding school for deaf children is suing journalists who reported violence against her students

The director of a correctional boarding school for deaf children in Yakutsk, Oksana Vinokurova, filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation against the editors of the local publications Sakhaday and Yakutia.Info.

Previously, they published a video in which students of the educational institution reported violence from teachers. In the footage, children tell in sign language how they were beaten, insulted and humiliated by one of the teachers. This information was also confirmed to journalists by two employees of the educational institution.

The teacher in question has already been fired from the school, and the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the torture of boarding school students.

Vinokurova herself refused to answer journalists’ questions about the students’ complaints. At the same time, she denies what the children and staff of the boarding school said, citing the results of internal audits.
