In the Kursk region bordering Ukraine, weapons began to be distributed to vigilantes

In the Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, they began to arm units of voluntary people's squads. This was announced by local governor Roman Starovoyt.

“For several months we have been working on the issue of providing the created detachments of the voluntary people's squad with military weapons. Today I can say that the mechanism has been found. I would like to emphasize that we have created all the conditions for its storage. The first batch has already arrived at the base. In the near future we will increase the number of weapons to 300 units,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to Starovoit, voluntary squads formed in the region provide “additional assistance” to the military, the National Guard, police and border guards.

On the same day, it became known that weapons were given to territorial defense units in the Belgorod region. They received machine guns, anti-drone guns and UAZ vehicles.

Commenting on these reports, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the arming of such units a “necessary measure” against the backdrop of attacks from Ukraine.
