An entrepreneur who covered his store with anti-war slogans was convicted in the Leningrad region

An entrepreneur from the Leningrad region, Dmitry Skurikhin, was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, having been found guilty of “repeatedly discrediting the army.” This was reported by the Network Freedoms project.

The reason for initiating the case was Skurikhin’s picket on the anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Then he posted a photo of himself on his knees with a sign saying “Sorry, Ukraine.” Before the sentencing, Skurikhin was under house arrest. He was taken into custody in the courtroom, SOTAvision reports , citing its own correspondent who was present at the hearing.

in September 2022 The first criminal case for “discrediting” the Russian army against Skurikhin was opened due to an anti-war post and a photograph of the facade of his store. Skurikhin covered the building with anti-war slogans and the names of Ukrainian cities that suffered from Russian shelling. Then the court ordered him to prohibit certain actions.

In May 2022, Skurikhin was also fined 45 thousand rubles under an administrative article about “discrediting” the army. The reason was a video in which an entrepreneur spoke out against the war in Ukraine.
