The magistrate of Moscow court district No. 422 fined the Wikimedia Foundation, which supports Wikipedia, 3 million rubles. Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the Tagansky District Court.
The Foundation was found guilty of failure to remove prohibited information (Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code). This is the thirteenth fine imposed by the Wikimedia Foundation since July last year. Their total amount exceeded 20 million rubles. The reasons for punishment were articles about the invasion of Ukraine, lyrics from the group “Psyche” and a video about hooking . The last time the Wikimedia Foundation was fined 3 million rubles was in June 2023 due to refusal to remove an article about the Ukrainian Azov regiment from the encyclopedia.
Today, the magistrate of court district No. 422 in Moscow also imposed a fine of 400 thousand rubles on Apple Distribution International for refusing to remove content at the request of the Russian authorities. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the request of Apple representatives , citing “trade secrets.” The claims concerned applications and podcasts, which, according to RKN, contained “fakes” about the war in Ukraine.
