Alexei Navalny commented on the sentence that the Moscow City Court handed down to him today in an “extremist” case.
“19 years in a special regime colony. The number doesn't matter. I understand very well that, like many political prisoners, I am serving a life sentence. Where life expectancy is measured by the length of my life or the lifespan of this regime,” he wrote.
Navalny also noted that the figure in the sentence is not for him. “She is for you. They want to scare you, not me, and deprive you of the will to resist. You are being forced to surrender your Russia without a fight to a gang of traitors, thieves and scoundrels who have seized power,” he emphasized.
In addition, Navalny addressed his supporters and asked them not to lose the “will to resist,” since Putin, according to him, should not achieve his goal.
On August 4, the Moscow City Court sentenced Alexei Navalny to 19 years in a special regime colony on an “extremist” case. The former technical director of the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel, Daniel Kholodny, was sentenced to eight years in a general regime colony in the same case. Due to the poor quality of the broadcast of the meeting in IK-6, the exact terms of the sentences became known only three hours after its announcement.
