The press service of the Moscow City Court, which today sentenced Alexei Navalny to 19 years in prison at an off-site hearing in IK-6 in the Vladimir region, said that today there is “no point in waiting for official information about the sentence.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, there will be no comments from the representative of the State Prosecution today. Most likely that’s all for today, there’s no point in waiting. <…> So far, today we have no more comments,” said press secretary Vadim Polezhaev.
During the meeting in the Vladimir colony, journalists were given a separate office, in which a broadcast from the meeting room was turned on. It was virtually impossible to hear the announcement of the verdict, which is why the exact terms to which Navalny and the former technical director of the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel Daniel Kholodny were sentenced were not known until the lawyers left the colony.
Press service representative Anastasia told reporters that accurate information will be published in the Moscow City Court’s chat with journalists so that “everyone has equal access to information at the same time.”
