Eco -activists demanded that the authorities justify the increase in MPC standards

Activists of environmental organizations from several regions of Russia demanded that the authorities justify the increase in the norms of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of harmful substances in the air. It is reported by "Cedar".

Eco -activists found that the norms were increased by the decree of the chief sanitary doctor of Russia of January 2021. So, the "safe" daily concentrations of ammonia and nitrogen dioxide grew 2.5 times, and hydrogen fluoride - 2.8 times. In addition, the “norm” of the content of small -dispersed particles in the air remained at a level 2.3 times higher than the recommendation of WHO.

The eco -activists sent a letter about this to the heads of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Health and Rosprirodnazor, the chief sanitary doctor and State Duma deputies from specialized committees. The appeal was signed by organizations from the Samara, Sverdlovsk, Omsk and Chelyabinsk regions, from the Republic of Bashkortostan and Moscow, as well as the Interregional Union "For Chemical Security".

Eco -activists demanded that the authorities explain what studies the safety of the new values of the MPC is confirmed, and lay out the rationale for open access.

According to the report of the International IQAir air quality control company, in 2022, Russia took 86th place in the world in air pollution. According to the organization, the dirtiest air in Russia is in Krasnoyarsk, the cleanest in Vladivostok.
