The metro union reported a mass departure of machinists for sick leave; recently their colleague died due to overwork

Due to frequent overtime, the health of Moscow metro employees has deteriorated; 37 electric train drivers from the Sokol depot and from other depots have gone on sick leave. This was reported by the trade union of metro workers.

The trade union also said that “the other day” the 28-year-old head of track unit No. 11 (PCh-11) died. “The man was working overtime for the third day in a row - he literally fell asleep while walking and fell on the rails. Fatal outcome,” said representatives of the association.

According to the publication, the drivers complained that their bosses violated their rest conditions, as well as low wages. The union claims that management's actions led to a deterioration in the health of employees - fatigue and malaise.

An employee of the capital's metro who resigned last year, who wished to remain anonymous, told Novaya Gazeta Europe that drivers were persuaded to sign agreements for overtime under the threat of bad grades for handling emergency situations.
