Lipsits will stop working at the Higher School of Economics on September 1. He clarified that the resignation letter was issued “at his own request.” At the same time, the management terminated the contract with him for remote work, despite the fact that he lives abroad and teaches mainly in the online master’s program “Marketing Management”.

Before leaving the university, according to the rules, Lipsitz was offered the vacancies of a passport officer with a salary of 35 thousand rubles a month, a dishwasher with a salary of 40 thousand rubles a month, and a leading accountant with a salary of 80 thousand rubles a month.

“I have not discovered that I have sufficient competencies to occupy such interesting positions,” the economist wrote and added that these positions require a presence in Moscow, and he has been living in another country for three years. Lipsits concluded: “In this situation, the only desire that I discovered in myself was to resign from HSE. I implemented it."

In 2019, the Federal List of Textbooks did not include a textbook on economics for grades 10-11 by Lipsitz, since the text “does not promote love of the Motherland.” The Vita-Press publishing house then proposed adding “materials on plans for the next economic breakthrough” to the manual. The economist replied that he did not intend to add “joyful words about the take-off of the economy and the patriotic impulse for the sake of import substitution.”
