In Odessa, for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, beaches were opened, reports the head of the local OBA Oleg Kiper. You can now swim on the beaches from 8:00 to 20:00; catering hours have also been extended in the city; now cafes and restaurants can be open until 23:00.
The city authorities pay special attention to the safety of visitors to the seashore. The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov , noted that beaches that have not passed the inspection will be closed to the public.
“Our task is to prepare all the necessary infrastructure. However, in my personal opinion, a beach holiday – just a holiday – is a little out of time while our defenders are fighting for every meter of Ukrainian land,” said the city mayor.
Odessa beaches have been closed since February 24, 2022. Despite this, people still visited them and swam. Last August, two men hit a sea mine and died.
