Far-right politician emerges as leader in Argentina's presidential primaries

Far-right congressman Javier Miley has become the leader in the presidential primaries in Argentina, writes El Pais. The politician calls himself an “anarcho-capitalist”, advocates banning abortion, denies global warming, and also wants to legalize the sale of human organs and the carrying of weapons.

After 96% of the ballots were counted, Javier Miley won 30.1% of the vote, ahead of Economy Minister Sergio Massa (20.9%) and former Security Minister Patricia Bullrich (17%).

In total, based on the results of the primaries, five parties received the right to present a candidate for the October presidential elections. Miley and his team said they plan to win the first round. According to Argentine law, for this they need to get 45% of the votes.
