There is no water in a Dagestan village all summer. Local residents blocked the federal highway

On August 13, about 200 residents of the Dagestan village of Karaman-2 blocked a section of the Astrakhan-Makhachkala federal highway. In this way, the protesters want to draw attention to the lack of water supply all summer.

There was a conflict between protesters and drivers, security officials say. 50 police officers and the leadership of the local police department arrived at the scene.

Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan stated that “the conflict was extinguished”: the protesters went home, and traffic along the highway was restored. The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that new protests “will be suppressed.”
