Red Wings reported that were down two of its three Boeing 777 aircraft . Because of this, two flights were delayed at once - people were unable to fly from Yekaterinburg to Antalya and back.
“The delay in flights occurred due to an emergency situation: for technical reasons, two Boeing-777 aircraft out of three in the airline’s fleet simultaneously failed,” the statement says.
The Red Wings telegram channel also reports that in order to remove passengers from delayed flights, the carrier rented a plane from IKAR airline.
“The ICAR airline board took off from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Yekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport to send passengers to Antalya. Passengers will be able to return from Antalya to Yekaterinburg on the same board,” the airline explained.
Red Wings flight WZ 3062 was supposed to fly from Turkey to Yekaterinburg on August 12. The second flight, WZ 3061, was scheduled to depart for Antalya on the morning of August 13th.
“The plane did not take off due to a breakdown, and the breakdown is not being repaired because there are no parts,” a passenger on flight WZ 3062 told RIA Novosti.
Passengers complain that airline representatives do not contact them, and all issues are resolved through the hotel reception. Thus, a tourist named Anna, who was supposed to fly to Yekaterinburg on Saturday, told RBC that they were “turned out onto the street once again, they say that the buses have already arrived, everyone comes out with suitcases, but in the end nothing happens.”
In mid-May 2023, “Project” reported that Aeroflot airline obliged senior flight attendants not to record detected malfunctions in the flight logs, but only to report them to the pilot. It was then reported that because of this, in some cases, the airline's planes flew with serious malfunctions.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Western aircraft manufacturers announced that they would stop supplying spare parts to Russia and refuse to maintain maintenance of aircraft operated by Russian airlines. Later, Russian media wrote that due to sanctions, domestic air carriers are forced to dismantle some of their aircraft for spare parts to repair others.
