Companions of the arrested Igor Strelkov submitted a notice of the rally to the Moscow mayor's office

The “Russian Movement in Support of Igor Strelkov” reports on its Telegram channel that it has submitted a notice to the Moscow mayor’s office to hold a rally.

Companions of the arrested former “Minister of Defense of the DPR” want to hold a rally on August 29 in the park on Krasnobogatyrskaya Street, opposite the Moscow City Court building. On this day, the court will consider the appeal against Strelkov’s arrest.

“During the rally, posters, flags and other means of visual propaganda will be used,” warn the organizers. They promise to report separately on the response of the mayor's office.

Igor Strelkov was detained in Moscow on July 21, on the same day the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sent him to a pre-trial detention center. He was accused of calling for extremism on the Internet due to posts in a telegram channel (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code).

Igor Strelkov (Girkin) gained fame in the spring of 2014, when his squad seized government buildings in the Ukrainian city of Slavyansk. Then Strelkov received the post of “Minister of Defense of the DPR”; he held this post until mid-August 2014. In November 2022, a court in The Hague sentenced Strelkov in absentia to life imprisonment, finding him guilty of involvement in the crash of Boeing MH17 , shot down in 2014 in the skies over Donbass.
