Journalist Ekaterina Kotrikadze and Levada Center were fined under the article on “foreign agents”

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow fined the Analytical Center of Yuri Levada (Levada Center) 300 thousand rubles, finding it guilty of incorrectly submitting reports of a “foreign agent” (Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code). Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the court.

In addition, the Golovinsky District Court fined Dozhd presenter Ekaterina Kotrikadze 40 thousand rubles, the press service told Mediazona. The case file states that Kotrikadze was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (carrying out the activities of a “foreign agent” by a person who is not included in the register of the Ministry of Justice). At the same time, Kotrikazde is on the register of “foreign agents” - the Ministry of Justice included her there in October 2022.

The courts made both decisions the day before, on August 17.

Levada Center has been on the register of the Ministry of Justice since 2016. The department made this decision after sociological surveys, which the analytical center is engaged in, were equated with political activity. According to the authorities, the polls are “aimed at shaping socio-political views.”
