The order itself is dated March 31, 2023, but it was registered only on August 17 and published today. The document clarifies that the organization can no longer conduct operational investigative activities in Russia.

In February, when the order was discussed, State Duma deputies accused the organization of “unfriendliness” and suggested that its access to Russian police databases could be used for espionage.

Interpol is an international intergovernmental police organization that coordinates law enforcement agencies. It includes 195 countries. Russia joined Interpol in 1990.
