The dog from the Chims memes has died in Hong Kong.

A Shiba Inu dog named Bolzi, known in memes as Chims, has died in Hong Kong. According to his owners, the dog, who was 12 years old, died after surgery.

“Don’t be sad, please remember better the joy that Bolzi brought to the world. The Shiba Inu with a round smiling face, who was able to unite us and help many people during the pandemic, brought a lot of joy, but now his mission is completed,” the dog’s owners say on Instagram. The money raised for Bolzi's treatment will be donated to local shelters.

A photo of the dog went viral in the 2010s. In 2019, a meme of a smiling Bolzi was published on Reddit with the caption Cheemsburger, after which the dog received the nickname Cheems.
