The My.Games company is looking for a buyer for the Boosty content monetization service, Kommersant writes, citing anonymous sources. Among the potential buyers is the VK holding.
A newspaper source familiar with the progress of the negotiations clarified that My.Games is going to “restructure” the service: “As part of it, the platform will be transferred to a separate Russian legal entity, which will be sold before the end of the year; there are already several potential buyers.”
The publication’s interlocutor admitted that the VK holding could become the buyer of the asset. The holding itself refused to comment on this. “This would allow the holding to integrate the platform with VK Donut and attract a new audience of authors and content creators,” he explained.
Experts interviewed by Kommersant estimated the planned transaction at $5–10 million rubles. “We can talk not only about the sale, but also about the restructuring of previously acquired assets within the framework of the funds being formed,” said Timur Nigmatullin, senior investment consultant at Finam.
After Patreon was blocked in Russia in 2022, the Boosty service became one of the most popular content monetization platforms in Russia.
In the fall of 2022, VK sold the My.Games company to the founder of the Leta Capital fund, Alexander Chachava.
