On the morning of August 21, residents of Rostov heard a loud sound similar to a powerful explosion. This was reported by local media, in particular, the telegram 161.ru. channel

In the comments to the news, many readers confirmed this information. “Suvorovsky, the house was shaking like crazy. A sister from Krasny Sulin said they also heard an explosion,” wrote Alexandra Stolyarova. “Pervomaisky district, 2 village. Ordzhonikidze, a very strong clap,” added Sergei Samatarev.

In turn, the pro-war telegram channel “Voenkor Kotenok” reported that residents heard the sounds of an air defense system being activated. “Preliminarily, air defense systems were successfully tested over Rostov-on-Don. Three Ukrainian missiles were reported to be intercepted,” he wrote. Having clarified that we are talking about S-200 anti-aircraft missiles converted into an attack version.

Later, the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, citing the military, said that the loud sound that local residents heard was caused by the transition of a military aircraft to supersonic speed.

“Due to numerous reports of loud sounds that were heard in different parts of Rostov and the surrounding area. The military informed about the transition of the aircraft to supersonic. Please remain calm,” Golubev wrote in his Telegram channel.
