A transgender girl who served in the FSB was fined for trying to leave the country

A transgender girl, Katerina Myers, who previously served in the FSB, was fined 300 thousand rubles in a state secrets case. about this RBC writes , citing Myers’ lawyer Konstantin Erokhin.

According to him, the case was considered behind closed doors. “She was fined for crossing the border by a person with travel restrictions, Art. 283.2 [Criminal Code, violation of requirements for the protection of state secrets]. An FSB employee does not have the right to travel abroad; in December last year, Katerina tried to fly to Mexico and was detained at the border,” Erokhin said.

He clarified that the state prosecutor asked the court to impose a fine of 400 thousand rubles. According to Erokhin, he and his trustee are “generally” satisfied with the court’s decision and do not plan to appeal it.

Erokhin also said that Myers’s passport was returned and her recognizance not to leave was removed, but the previous travel restrictions imposed on her as a former FSB employee still apply.

Before making her transgender transition, Katerina Myers, then named Alexander Chumakov, served in the FSB for 12 years, working in the North Caucasus. In her own words, in the intelligence service she was engaged in analytical work related to extremist and terrorist materials on the Internet, as well as “working with journalists.”

Myers began her transgender transition in 2020. After this, she faced pressure at work and was forced to quit, rising to the rank of captain in the Border Guard. After resigning, Myers mastered the profession of a makeup artist.

In March 2023, it became known that Myers’ home was searched, and she herself was interrogated by the FSB Investigation Department.
