Kommersant: Drone that crashed in Krasnogorsk near Moscow was shot down with an anti-drone gun

One of the two drones discovered on the night of August 22 in the Moscow region was shot down not by a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile system, which are usually used to repel air attacks in the region, but by an anti-drone gun, Kommersant writes , citing its own sources.

According to the publication, the drone flying over Krasnogorsk was shot down by a shooter-observer, as a result of which the drone exploded in the air and fell apart. The Russian Defense Ministry specifically put shooters on heightened alert on Tuesday night, expecting attacks on National Flag Day.

Anti-drone guns are actively used in the SVO zone and on the border with Ukraine, but this is the first time such weapons have been successfully used in the capital region, Kommersant claims.

FlyDrone representative Alexander Kaniovsky told the Kommersant FM radio station about the weapon in the following way: "Anti-drone guns will only work effectively from a distance of 200-250 meters. Secondly, you will need to know where the drone is flying from. Thirdly, the gun will only work effectively against quadcopters. It will be of almost no use against aircraft-type drones."

As a result of the drone explosion over Krasnogorsk, the roof and windows of a multi-story building were damaged, as well as 15 cars parked nearby.
