Several border guards were injured during a shooting battle with Ukrainian saboteurs in the Bryansk region, according to the Baza telegram channel.
On the afternoon of August 22, a group of saboteurs from Ukraine attempted to break through the state border in the Klimovsky district, reported the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz.
“Thanks to the coordinated and heroic actions of the units of the border department of the FSB of Russia in the Bryansk region, the Ministry of Defense, and special forces of the Russian Guard in the Bryansk region, the attack was repelled,” the official wrote in a telegram.
According to Baza, the border violators were discovered around noon near the village of Lugovoi. The saboteurs were armed with automatic weapons and their attack was supported by mortar fire. The publication does not provide the exact number of attackers, as well as wounded border guards.
Local authorities said they were continuing “measures to ensure the safety of civilians” after the attack.
The Russian Ministry of Defense did not report anything about the raid in the Bryansk region. The department only reported that on the night of August 22, two Ukrainian drones were suppressed in the region by electronic warfare systems and crashed.
