Pskov: The deputy demanded to remove the monument to Stalin

The deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly, Arthur Gaiduk, appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office due to the installation of the monument to Stalin in the Great Luki, the Pskov Yabloko reports .

He recalled that the monument in Velikiye Luki became the first in the post -Soviet space after 1956, when the "debunking of the cult of the personality of Stalin" occurred. Gaiduk called the installation of the monument "a manifestation of disrespect for the victims of political repression, as well as to many years of efforts of thousands and thousands of people to restore the memory of the repressed, the return of their names." According to Gaiduk, in the Pskov region, 60 thousand people were subjected to repression to the death of the Bolsheviks and to the death of Stalin in 1953.

• The monument to Joseph Stalin was opened on August 15 on the territory of the Mikron Passing Plant, which produces rack equipment and equips warehouse premises (and also represents its products at the Army forum).

• As local media wrote, more than a hundred people came to the opening, including actress Maria Shukshina , who was shot by grandfather under Stalin. The monument was opened by representatives of the Cultural Heritage Fund "Russian Knight". As the Deputy Director of the Fund Vladimir Parshikov told RIA Novosti , "people expressed a desire every day, coming to work, seeing the monument to Joseph Stalin."

• The eight -meter monument was made according to the project of sculptor Mikhail Krasilnikov four years ago. The sculptor in an interview admitted that “Stalin is close to him,” and a portrait of the former head of the USSR hangs in the workshop.

• Initially, the monument was to be erected in Volgograd, but the local authorities refused to do this. After that, the monument could appear in the Moscow region or in Voronezh, but it was also not possible to implement the plan.
