From September 4, Nestle will increase 9% of the price for baby food, including breast milk substitutes, ready -made breakfasts and soluble cocoa drinks. This was reported by Kommersant with reference to letters to the company to retailers. Nestle refused to comment.
The rise in price of baby food is explained by a decrease in the ruble exchange rate by more than 30% since the beginning of the year. In the case of cocoa drinks, price raising is also associated with an increase in world prices for raw materials and sugar.
Experts surveyed by the publication do not exclude that after Nestle, other children's food manufacturers, such as Danone and Infaprim, can announce about raising prices. In 2021, these three companies produced about 32 thousand tons of products with internal consumption of 40 thousand, Kommersant writes.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, due to the increase in selling prices for children's products, suspected Nestle in unfriendly actions. Thiswas reported by the Prime Agency with reference to the press service of the department. The Ministry of Agriculture said that in general in Russia "the cost of basic raw materials for baby food and ready breakfasts is stable."
