The ex-prosecutor of Vorkuta went to war in Ukraine and stopped paying money to a teenager whom he hit at a pedestrian crossing

Former transport prosecutor of Vorkuta Alexey Abramov, convicted of an accident, went to fight in Ukraine and stopped paying compensation to the injured student Stepan Sonin. This was reported by his support group.

In September 2020, Abramov hit then 17-year-old Sonin at a pedestrian crossing. It later turned out that the prosecutor got behind the wheel while intoxicated. In June 2021, Abramov was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The court awarded Sonin compensation in the amount of 500 thousand rubles.

Later, as the support group writes, his mother achieved another decision: “payments as compensation for material costs for her son’s treatment in the amount of 825,579 rubles, as well as compensation for Stepan’s lost earnings - 25 thousand rubles monthly for the period from February 1, 2022 to April 1 2023.”

However, Abramov signed a contract for military service with the Ministry of Defense and went to Ukraine. It is unknown when exactly this happened, but it is noted that he has already filed an application to suspend payments under enforcement proceedings.

“Using the right granted by Federal legislation, he is under legal protection from the initiation of enforcement proceedings against him, including as moral and material responsibility for the crime committed. Thus, at the moment, Stepan’s family does not have the opportunity to receive payments and compensation established by the court, which would be used for his treatment, recovery and rehabilitation,” the support group said in a statement.
