A “sexual literacy program” for teenagers has been prepared in the Perm region

For teenagers in the Perm region, brochures and booklets were published with information about “abortion prevention, the risks of promiscuity, safe and effective methods of contraception and the skills of civilized reproductive behavior.” This is the only region of all those listed in the Vedomosti material that, in an attempt to increase the birth rate, decided to introduce sex education.

In total, 16 Russian regions have prepared fertility stimulation programs, including Sverdlovsk, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk, Kursk, Tyumen regions, Buryatia, Altai Territory and others. For example, in the Sverdlovsk region, it was decided to pay a monthly amount in the amount of the subsistence minimum for the third and subsequent children, in the Bryansk region - a one-time payment of 10 thousand rubles to families for the birth of a child.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, families with children will be subsidized for the purchase or construction of housing, and the number of free IVF procedures under compulsory medical insurance will be increased. The authorities of the Voronezh region will try to stimulate local business so that entrepreneurs give employees with children some additional guarantees and benefits. The regions are also planning to provide families with school uniforms, writing materials, and the opportunity to visit cultural institutions for free.

In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, events began to be held for teenagers to “popularize and strengthen traditional family values, prevent divorce and the value basis of increasing the birth rate.” In the Sverdlovsk and Kaluga regions, gynecologists have developed “scenarios” for communicating with women who come to have an abortion. Doctors will have to tell them about government support measures and provide “medical and psychological assistance.”

The authorities of the Voronezh region said that the measures introduced in the region should further stimulate the birth rate of 16 thousand children in 2023. In the Oryol region, it is expected that almost five thousand children will be born in the region as part of the program.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced plans to place several drugs for medical abortion under special control. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that Russia has developed a “vicious practice” when women pursue careers rather than give birth to children.
