A stone fish disappeared from the playground on Vasilyevsky Island

During the improvement of the playground on the Vasilyevsky Island at the address of the Marine Embankment, 15, the stone sculpture "Kita-Kita", installed in the yard, disappeared. Residents in the district public say that they loved the sculpture and call it a symbol of the "sea".

On August 21, local residents drew attention to the disappearance of stone fish (also called Kit and Dolphin). They said that the contractor is landscaping the playground on which the fish stood, and during the work the sculpture was moved aside. But later she disappeared.

According to commentators in the district public, the municipality acquired the sculpture in 2009. According to another version of the inhabitants, it was a gift to the neighbors from the author of Daniil Caminer, the son of sculptor Dmitry Kaminer, known in St. Petersburg by the Aviator statue before the new terminal of Pulkovo Airport.

Daniil Caminker works in collaboration with his father and individually. In 2017, the exhibition of two sculptors was held at the Erarta Museum. Judging by the information on the Daniil website , his work was installed in the USA, Denmark, Romania and Great Britain.

Local resident Svetlana Petrushin-Gorunova told Paper that she requested information about the fate of the whale in the district administration, and also contacted the contractor-Petersburzhesk replied that the sculpture was taken to a landfill. Svetlana applied to the prosecutor's office on the destruction of the sculpture.

The MO administration said that the landscaping of the territory is carried out as part of the project “Formation of a comfortable urban environment”, which was developed by Alfador and in 2021 was a public hearing. According to a resident of the district, the workers cut down the old linden and fell asleep.

The landscaping project, according to officials, took into account “telephone appeals of the inhabitants of the municipal district, as well as written appeals about the injury of granite sculpture”. As a result, it was decided to dismantle it. “It is this sculpture that is not subject to restoration,” the administration confirmed.

At the same time, in the comments on the administration, residents call the incident act of vandalism and claim that the fish did not interfere with anyone: “My three children grew up on this site, and never once injured and did not fall from it. In vain they removed it, ”writes one of the local residents. Petersburgers are sure that the sculpture was on the balance of the municipality and was destroyed illegally.
