Director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Garbuzov was removed from office. This happened after the publication of an article in which he dismantled the main theses of Russian propaganda. In the commentary, TASS Garbuzov confirmed the detachment.
“The reason as such is not indicated there, there is an article of the employment contract - at the initiative of the founder, it is formulated like this,” he said.
On August 29, the “Independent Gazeta” published a Garbuzov column, in which the author disassembles myths about the West used by Russian propagandists. Garbuzov also expresses his opinion on the place of Russia in the world.
The scientist believes that the myths that modern Russian authorities offer are distributed at the expense of the state propaganda machine: "well-paid professional political manipulators and participants in numerous television talk shows."
Among these myths, he said, is the idea of a crisis of globalization and the “Anglo-Saxon” world, the anti-colonial revolution, the loss of American dominance, the great world anti-American revolution and the decline of the West.
The column describes the goal, which, according to Valery Garbuzov, is pursued by Russian propaganda. We are talking about immersing Russian society into the world of illusions and the intention of the ruling elite indefinitely and at all costs to hold power in their hands.
The publication was criticized by employees of the propaganda media. In particular, the host of the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio Sergey Mardan compared it with Igor Strelkov (Girkin) posts, and the Politnavigator publication collected all outraged reviews for the article in its own note.
Whether the removal of Garbuzov is related to the publication is unknown.
