
Tosnensky City Court fined Entrepreneur Yuri Matsko by 2.4 million rubles. The man was found guilty of damage to the Soviet military burial near the village of Telman, the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Leningrad Region reports .
Context. In addition to the fine, the court extended the arrest of the property of Matsko.
According to TASS, this is the first case under the article on the destruction or damage of military burials, perpetuating the memory of the dead during the defense of the Fatherland (Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which came to court.
What the court ruled. The case against Matsko was brought up due to damage to the military burial in the land plot, which belongs to the EVRICAL company. The entrepreneur himself holds the post of general director in this company.
According to investigators, the workers of the Ericks discovered the remains during land work. Subsequently, Matsko ordered them to take out the soil with the bones and not inform anyone about the finds.
At the same time, the head of the company knew that the remains of participants in the Great Patriotic War could be in Telman, the prosecutor’s office said. The department wrote that Matsko was guided by "the goals of profit", "showing disrespect for the memory of the ancestors."
