The court received a criminal case of “discrediting” the army against a resident of the Khabarovsk Territory, whose son died in the war in Ukraine

The Nikolaevsky-on-Amur City Court of the Khabarovsk Territory received a case of “discrediting” the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) against local resident Sergei Kalalba. Mediazona found information about this in the court database.

In May, Kalalb told “Siberia. Realii" that the reason for initiating a criminal case was an anti-war TikTok, which the man published on February 21 in his group chat on WhatsApp under the title "Kalalb-ur (on the verge of a foul)." In a short video, a woman says: “Girls, why are you sending your children to war? Go to the Ministry of Defense and ask them to be removed from there.”

According to the man, district police officer Stepan Prikhodko drew attention to TikTok and joined the chat using the invitation link. At the end of February, Kalalba's house was searched, and the court ordered him to be prohibited from certain actions.

Last summer, the man was fined 30 thousand rubles under a protocol on “discrediting” the army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). It was compiled by the same district police officer Prikhodko, adding to the case materials 378 screenshots of the chat “Kalalb-ur (on the verge of a foul)” with videos and comments from the man from April 23 to June 15.

Kalalb also told “Siberia. Realities” that in March last year his son, Russian army officer Nikita Kovalenko, with whom he had not communicated for a long time, died in Ukraine.

“When I found out, I drank for a day. I understand that as an officer he could not violate the orders of the command. A year has passed, but I haven’t left,” the man told the publication.
