Kyiv regained control over drilling platforms in the Black Sea - Ukrainian intelligence

The Ukrainian military has regained control of the Pyotr Godovalets and Ukraina drilling platforms, as well as the Tavrida and Sivash jack-up floating drilling rigs, which are located in the Black Sea between annexed Crimea and Odessa. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the country's Ministry of Defense.

It is noted that Russia occupied these facilities in 2015, and since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has used them for military purposes. In particular, helipads and radar stations were located there.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, during the attack, the Ukrainian military was able to capture a supply of Russian helicopter unguided missiles and a Neva radar station, which can track the movement of ships in the Black Sea.

“During one of the phases of this operation, a battle took place between Ukrainian special forces on boats and a Russian Su-30 fighter. As a result of the battle, the Russian plane was defeated and was forced to retreat,” the Main Intelligence Directorate said in a statement.

It does not specify when exactly the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to regain control of the drilling platforms. In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on September 10 that three US-made Willard fast boats with landing groups of special operations forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were discovered and allegedly destroyed in the Black Sea during the dark hours. At the same time, the Russian military department did not report the loss of control over any objects in the Black Sea.
