Journalist Arkady Babchenko, who now lives in Estonia, wrote on the afternoon of September 12 that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened criminal proceedings against him due to criticism of President Vladimir Zelensky. The SBU denied this statement by evening, writes Current Time.

“The information about the alleged initiation of criminal proceedings by the Security Service of Ukraine against Arkady Babchenko is not true,” the SBU said in a statement.

According to Babchenko, he should have been detained after crossing the Ukrainian border and taken to the Lukyanovka pre-trial detention center for pre-trial investigative actions. Babchenko cited criticism of the Ukrainian president as the reasons for his arrest.

“As a matter of fact, there can only be one thing - Bubochka fucked (as some call Vladimir Zelensky - note “Cold”). There simply cannot be any other options,” he wrote, attaching donation links at the end of the post.

Arkady Babchenko emigrated from Russia in 2017 and lived in Ukraine for some time. He writes that he has not been to Ukraine for four years, and also notes that he has neither business nor property there.
