The European Union will not extend sanctions against four Russians

The European Union did not extend sanctions imposed due to the war in Ukraine against four Russians. Their names are not reported.

It is noted that the restrictions will cease to apply on September 15. The day before, Reuters, citing sources , reported that sanctions could be lifted from the owner of the RBC holding Grigory Berezkin, who also controlled Komsomolskaya Pravda and the Metro newspaper, billionaire and ex-senator Farkhad Akhmedov and the former head of the online retailer Ozon Alexander Shulgin.

The Bell writes that the fourth Russian citizen from whom European sanctions will be lifted may be the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who died in a plane crash at the end of August. The publication recalls that this has already happened. Sanctions in connection with the death were lifted, for example, from the founder of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

The European Union's message also notes that personal sanctions continue to apply to almost 1.8 thousand individuals and legal entities. Restrictions must be renewed every six months.
