"The war is turning a free generation into slavery"

In this speech, I will try to summarize my thoughts, which I made regarding what was happening in Russia during the war. I will list the discoveries, amazing and banal, which I had to make myself.

I will talk about our generation with you: I include both 20-year-olds and 40-year-olds, those who were actually formed and are now being formed in the post-Soviet reality, which was relatively free for the first two decades. In Russia, we lived as if outside the ideological interests of the state. And the state itself as such was in principle absent. The people who headed him twitched the country with great enthusiasm. So the people were left to their own.

For the first time in an incredibly long time, we could live in a situation of ideological vacuum, when the state did not dictate to the citizens, what to consider correct, what is considered wrong, what to consider the truth and what to consider a lie.

For the first time, we could simply call a spade a spade while the authorities were occupied by the division of property and capital. But when the deed ended and the time came to protect the people stolen from any attacks from the people, the state was again interested in directing the people's thoughts in the right direction, to distract people from reality as much as possible.

And with all the acuteness, of course, all this manifested itself during the war, in its very first days.

The invasion of February 24, 2022 was by surprise not only people of humanistic and democratic views, but also of unlimited inhabitants, technocrats in the government, even part of the army and special services. No one was really ready for war, and it is quite obvious that there was no consensus on the need for war.

This can be judged at least by the reactions of members of the Security Council, who bleated something and turned pale when Putin called them to the carpet in order to publicly cover them with blood. They could not even portray some conviction or sincere support. The falsity of the premises of this war was quite obvious to both people in this hall where Putin gathered them, and all the deputies who were told to become the following supporting this war and who later put their own lives and careers to support the war.

In the first days after the invasion, we saw completely sincere and mass resistance to war. Thousands of cultural, science, art, and representatives of professional organizations signed a lot of open letters against the war. All Instagram-divas posted black screens.

It was obvious to everyone that it was evil, that the prerequisites for the war were completely false, that it was not justified by anything. It was obvious to everyone where the truth was at that time.

The truth was that we attacked a neighboring state. The truth was that it did not provoke us for war. The war is obviously aggressive, unjust, and all attempts to somehow explain it sucked out of the finger.

In addition, it was clear that from the point of view of the history of the latest Russia, some kind of evil was happening quite unprecedented, that the country takes a step towards the abyss. Not to mention the evil that, I repeat, is completely unreasonably, it causes the Ukrainian people absolutely unprovidedly.

And despite the fact that during the previous eight years, federal television massaged massagedly promoted the possibility of power methods, that all chain dogs, from Solovyov to Skabeeva, and all their pseudo -experts tried to prove the need, the expediency of violence and, most importantly, the very possibility of violating all kinds of Tabu and the outbreak of the war against the fraternal people, no broadly broad public. There was no support of the war.

Maybe ten percent of citizens who were bitten, were ready to support the war, but all other people were not ready for war. Support was from people like Mikhail Porechenkov, who already shot in the direction of Ukrainian troops from a machine gun, or Zakhar Prilepin, who generally became one of the apologists of the new pseudo -Soviet Russian imperialism. We were not surprised to learn who supported the war.

However, the authorities showed perseverance. She influenced the leaders of public opinion with different methods, she harshly suppressed attempts at peaceful protest.

Let me remind you that more than 16 thousand people were detained for participating in anti -war protests at the beginning of the war. This is the largest number of detainees for participation in protests in the entire history of modern Russia. The cruelty with which the security forces suppressed these shares, the use of electric shocks and beating is also for Russia in recent decades it has been unprecedented on such a scale.

Then the authorities showed perseverance in, on the one hand, to teach those figures and culture, and public figures, and politicians who distance themselves from the war or openly opposed it. And on the other hand, in order to continue to impose on your picture of the world in which this war was logical and necessary for citizens.

We read insider signals from financial structures and the entire technocratic corps of the Russian state apparatus: at the beginning of the war, everyone was terrified of what was happening. But through certain mechanisms of the authorities, people managed to take people into the war according to the same technology that Putin used to cover the members of the Security Council, forcing them to publicly support the invasion of the camera. In the same way, then members of the Federation Council, deputies of the parliament, then further down the chain, were included in this history, various officials up to directors of schools, institutions, state enterprises. They distributed giant circular bail down to the whole country.

The persecution of dissenters unfolded in full. We all know how against artists, artists, directors who allowed themselves to criticize war, repressive measures were applied. He was discharged a wolf ticket, and in order to return to the profession, start acting again, shoot again, put something again, they had to go through a certain rite of public repentance, a change of position.

They had to negotiate with the employees of the presidential administration, had to go to certain steps.

The musician Roman Bilyk (Roma Beast) recently went to it. It’s not enough just to say: oh, the demon was counted, excuse me, got excited. It is necessary to remove all your anti -war posts and then take a public step in order to say goodbye to your former reputation. Like Roma Beast-to go to the Donbass, there is a whimper when they shoot, and to sing something invisible fighters of the visible front.

So the authorities manage to insist on the absolutely false version of events in which it is not a Russian state, based on the personal interest of its president, the beginning of the war against the Ukrainian people and imposed it on it, and this Russia was forced to defend themselves from Ukraine, finding herself in a corner: because geese spread radioactive AIDS against the Slavs of Russian origin, Ukrainians are developing an atomic bomb, and indeed they are actually the first attacked.

There was an endless shift and probing versions in search of the one that could find at least some response in the souls and hearts of the people. It is very interesting to understand how exactly the flashing of the mental operating system of Russians is carried out, literally in terms of neurolinguistic programming, and not only ordinary people, but also speakers, representatives of the establishment, political class, state apparatus. How propaganda figures program their flock, and themselves through the introduction of a novel. How is there a retreat from obvious truths and how the self -confidence of people in the truth of lies occurs through language.

This is not some modern invention, it was already, and in Hitler Germany it was used very actively.

The name of the frankly cannibal actions of the authorities with some newly-sounded term forces people to pronounce this term and allows you to program consciousness.

The most obvious example here is precisely the “special military operation”, which replaces the word “war”, a prohibited word. The initial genesis of this term, from my point of view, is due to the fact that, in accordance with the Law on a special military operation, the authorities have the right to keep in full a secret the numbers of their own sacrifices and losses and the figures of the casualties and losses of the opposite side, including among the civilian population, because everything that is special is covered by a curtain of secrets and there is no obligation by the authorities of the authorities to declare anything here.

Further, coercion to the use of the term “sucker” has gained the nature of the marker’s “their or foe” marker. If you call it a war, you will subject to punishment. Several people, including me, were publicly carved, punished for calling the obvious obvious. You call it a war - here is the deadline for discrediting the army of the Russian Federation. The very law itself, which is called the "law on the discredit of the Armed Forces", is actually prohibited not discrediting, but imposes a ban on calling a thing with its name. The law that you are disseminating true information about the war crimes of the Russian army is called the Law on the spread of obviously inaccurate information.

In Nazi Germany, for example, in any case, even among persons directly involved, it was impossible to call the extermination of the Jewish people by executions or murders. Vocabular was very strictly regulated. In particular, the executions were called "special measures." The final solution to the Jewish question implied genocide and extermination. This could be called exclusively in these terms. In the film of the Hungarian director Laszlo Nemesh, “Son Saul”, who describes what was happening in Auschwitz, it was shown that the camp prisoners did not have the right to call the bodies of the dead Jews by bodies, or people, or corpses. It was necessary to use the word "thing". And the German guard very insisted that they call it the word "thing."

After some time, pronouncing aloud in a certain way the names of things or phenomena begins to form your consciousness. If you understand that you are lying, calling the war a “special military operation”, this causes you cognitive dissonance. This is done, of course, through coercion, through the threat of repression. It is planted precisely in order to lead people to conformity in order to suppress resistance and thoughts of resistance through compliance with the ritual, which makes you in a second -class regime, at least every time you speak out loud, abandon your beliefs.

When you are publicly forced to soak the truth or, being in public space or even in a company of relatively close people, to call the war “Svo”, knowing that this is exactly what the power requires, and knowing that the authorities forbids to call the war the war, every time you are in your own ridge.

You will bend it, bend, and either you will become Guttarchev from this, or your ridge will crunched.

Due to the fact that you experience cognitive dissonance, it is an unpleasant feeling. You understand that you are stepping on the throat of your own song, abandoning your own principles, you try to avoid all this. But if, on the one hand, this is reinforced by repression, fear of punishment, risks, and you cannot step in this direction, because you are afraid of loss of work, loss of freedom, there may be reprisals, then you begin to move the other way. You, in order not to feel like a liar and a coward, so as not to undermine the foundations of your own attitude, where you want to see yourself with the right and right person, you begin to convince yourself of the fidelity of arguments, which a justification for violence, obviously false arguments, whose deceitfulness you perfectly understood at the beginning, is based. You begin to look for arguments that will allow you to eros your own previous position and strengthen in this dialectical duel the position of the side that threatens you with violence. And, it seems to me that conformism is being built on this.

From the point of view of social psychologists, I probably pronounce some banality, but these are all personal trivial discoveries made by me over the past one and a half years, when I have watched introspectively and what sensations I live and how the behavior and rhetoric of people, primarily in Russia, who remain in the country in their choice or forcedly.

You begin to question the possibility of truth as such, saying that there is no truth, there is only a point of view. And the point of view is equal to a different point of view. And the fact that Putin sees the world as if the Cold War is still continuing there or as if the Second World War did not end, it is now as if a valid point of view. Although we are well aware that until he realized this reality through large -scale bloodshed until he caused this reality to life, it existed exclusively in his imagination.

It seems to me that this process of turning the ridge itself is the desired goal of the authorities necessary for the dictatorship. The meaning here is not just to make people agree with the war out loud, but that they have done this procedure on themselves, so that they convince themselves, so that they force themselves to believe in a deliberate lies.

This fact of overweight, the process of convincing yourself in the truth of lies is the self -repent of which you go, perfectly understanding everything, do this based on fear or for considerations of benefit, abandoning completely obvious truths. The conviction of himself in the truth of lies for the sake of benefit or out of fear - this process, is the process of self -meaning into slavery.

Over the past 30 years, due to the lack of power, which, I repeat, was passionate about the business, the generation, left by itself and relatively free. And this generation had to be called to the boot again. This generation had to be pressed to the nail, turn it into slavery, because it was not a slave generation.

The experience of self -bending yourself, the experience of turning the ridge itself - this is the experience of turning the current generation into slavery.

Any person experiences an acute need simply for maintaining a psycho -emotional balance to feel on the side of the truth, to feel like a good, respectable person. At the same time, you are offered to justify massacres, bombing of cities, the murder of civilian residents, to take a war against the country. And this is given that Ukraine is not some kind of abstract country, but a neighboring country, where people look exactly like you live in exactly the same apartments, with the same carpets on the walls. Efforts are required serious to explain that it is necessary.

The authorities, understanding, of course, the total immorality of everything that they do, frantically trying to find a substantiation, an explanation of their cannibalistic actions.

The real motive here is that these people are afraid to lose everything, Putin is afraid to lose power, Putin is afraid to face the inability to convey his conquests and accumulations to the next generation of this hereditary, as they suggest, new aristocracy. Hence the need to stop those natural development processes in Russian society that have occurred recently.

Nevertheless, justifying the need to sacred power through blood, they play a dangerous game. They must explain to people that blood does not spill in vain, that all this is justified, that there was no other choice and that Russia is on the right path, that people are not in vain. The most effective way was to turn reality upside down and suckerization. That is, an idea of ​​itself instead of an aggressor, which, of course, the Russian government and Russia as a state are a victim. Hence the stories that, they say, we were drawn into everything, the Western partners of Ukraine left us, we were forced to react, we defend ourselves, we do not attack.

The fact that this does not agree with the facts and can not stand with reality, it does not matter, because the emotion that is thrown to people, and the delight of the experience of this emotion, which completely overshadows the unconvincing of argumentation, is much more important here. First of all, these are the emotions of resentment, resentification and revenge, imposing a sensation of themselves as a victim, which is nevertheless capable of taking revenge on their troubles now. This sensation itself is so strong and so vividly experienced by people who are humiliated by their own state that it can bring pleasure. Как наркотическое вещество, оно дает им упоение, и отвлечение, и временное избавление от тревог и болей.

Поэтому пропаганда не то чтобы убедительна, но она заразна, и она справляется со своими функциями, несмотря на то, что сегодня она врет одно, завтра другое, заставляет людей забыть о том, о чем врала вчера, и не особенно тревожится по поводу убедительности своей аргументации.

Потому что сила эмоции и упоительность важнее, чем факты. Однако шаг за шагом происходит отдаление от правды, и от этого возникает, разумеется, диссонанс.

На самом-то деле русский народ находится в вечном поиске правды, и этот вечный поиск, разумеется, связан с тем, что государство вечно водит своих людей за нос, потому что государство это всегда управлялось узурпаторами и обманщиками. И чтобы защитить себя от обездоленного народа, ищущего справедливости и просто человеческой жизни, эти узурпаторы и обманщики отвлекают его тем, что городят фундаменталистские псевдорелигиозные конструкции, вызывают демонов ксенофобии, морочат народ великодержавным шовинизмом, фетишизируют территориальные завоевания.

И тем не менее каждый раз, когда лживость той позиции, которую по требованию государства человек должен занять, начинает резать глаза, людям необходимо этот диссонанс как-то преодолеть. Им необходимо доказать себе, что они принимают то или иное решение, не исходя из шкурных соображений — чтобы не потерять работу, например, чтобы не быть отравленными или посаженными. Потому что это заставило бы их признать в себе низменные качества: трусость, жадность, малодушие и так далее.

Люди начинают приписывать своему шкурному или связанному соображениями самосохранения выбору какую-то моральную составляющую, моральную подоплеку. Так, те, кто уехал из России, объясняют себе, что уезжают не потому, что боятся за себя и своих детей, а потому, например, что не хотят разделять это будущее с диктатурой. Те, кто остаются, наоборот, говорят, что они проявили мужество, оставшись, а не побежали из страны, как некоторые. Те, кто поехал на фронт, объясняют, что они делают это не потому, что им платят 400 тысяч рублей за убийство других людей, а потому что они родину защищают, потому что они мужики, настоящие герои.

Человеку, вне зависимости от того, какое он решение принял, видимо, необходимо подвести моральную базу под это решение, чтобы не признавать и не признаваться себе в том, что оно принято по соображениям другого порядка, самосохранения или выгоды.

И кроме того, надо понимать, что любая диктатура — это прежде всего сила.

Выбор здесь не между правдой и ложью, а между правдой и силой. Убедительность всех этих ложных, полубредовых построений, на которых зиждется любая диктатура, система воображаемых координат, новояз, этот волапюк, который форматирует сознание, принуждая людей к покорности, — всё это убедительно постольку, поскольку подкреплено силой.

Такие государства должны всё время проецировать силу: угрожать насилием и осуществлять насилие. Диктатор убедителен, пока он силен. Как только он ослабел, его сразу начинают высмеивать.

Вот говорят: а король-то голый! И все в шоке от удивительного открытия, сделанного маленьким мальчиком. Неужели до этого мальчика никто не видел, что король голый? Разумеется, видели-то все. Дело не в том, что никто этого не видел. Дело в том, что было очень страшно сказать это вслух, чтобы голову за это не отрубили. Но если у короля случился инсульт и он упал с трона, в этот момент всем становится совершенно очевидно, и все хором говорят: да, голый, посмотрите-ка! Потому что не страшно в этот момент уже стало.

Другая история заключается в том, что, примкнув к силе, потому что ты себя ощущаешь слабым, и согласившись с аргументацией силы, даже если она очевидным образом правду нарушает, ты начинаешь эту силу оправдывать, потому что ты должен морализировать свою позицию, свой выбор, и ты не можешь признать, что находишься на стороне зла. То есть, примкнув ко злу, ты начинаешь объяснять себе, что это, в сущности, и не зло вовсе. У тебя возникает серьезная потребность в оправдании этого зла — из потребности к самооправданию.

И вот ты говоришь себе: «Всё не так однозначно». Это «всё не так однозначно» на самом деле означает, что ты отказываешься считать, что в этой ситуации вот тут безусловное добро, а тут безусловное зло, тут черное, тут белое, тут мы, тут они, и вот так поступать правильно, а вот так — совершенно точно нельзя.

Но если ты примкнул уже к силе или готовишься к ней примкнуть, то, как только ты это признал, получается, что ты находишься на стороне зла. И даже если ты просто со злом не споришь, то тоже на стороне зла находишься.

А вот если ты говоришь, что всё не так однозначно, значит, нету в этой ситуации никаких двух полюсов. Нет хорошего, нет плохого, нет черного, нет белого. И ты сам, дескать, находишься на стороне черного, на стороне зла, не потому что страшно тебе за себя, или потому что выгодно находиться на стороне зла, а потому что другая сторона не является стороной добра. Соответственно, если они не белые, то и ты не черный, а все серы, а если все серые, то это ощущение нахождения на стороне зла перестает разъедать тебя. И именно чтобы оно тебя перестало жечь, ты так отчаянно цепляешься за любые возможности доказать себе, что в той стороне тоже есть зло.

Ты говоришь: ну посмотрите, вот украинцы замучили российского военнопленного. И это дает тебе силы и уверенность в себе, чтобы продолжать работать на российское государство. Ты доказал себе, что они не добрые и не хорошие, что они такие же, как ты. А если они такие же, как ты, значит, нет никаких полюсов и нет никакой правды. Необходимость эрозии самой концепции истины тоже происходит отсюда.

Ты говоришь: нет никакой правды. И правды быть не может. Поэтому то, что я лгу, не делает меня ничем, как бы, отличающимся от противника. Противник ведь тоже лжет!

«Всей правды мы не узнаем». What does it mean? Что установить истину невозможно. Что истины словно не существует в принципе. И то, что кто-то у нас там привирает, и то, что я сам привираю, не делает меня сознательным мерзавцем. Потому что правды не существует как возможности, как концепции. Это недостижимый идеал. Поэтому все могут врать. И я могу врать. И, соответственно, распространяя ложь, я не совершаю ничего заведомо аморального. И тем более если я притворяюсь, что верю в ложь, хотя понимаю, что это ложь.

Другая стратегия того, как избежать переживания себя как занявшего сторону зла, — выученная беспомощность. Это когда ты говоришь: я ничего не могу изменить, от меня ничего не зависит. Поэтому я отказываюсь занимать здесь какую-либо позицию. Я просто продолжаю жить тут какую-то мою маленькую жизнь.

И мы это в Москве и Петербурге сейчас наблюдаем: отказ занимать позицию относительно сильной, насильственной стороны, даже если это заведомо зло и заведомо ложь.

Ну и на крайний случай это приписывание своих грехов силе обстоятельств: когда ты говоришь, что, мол, не мы такие — жизнь такая. И это вот, собственно, тоже желание себя оправдать. Да, мол, приходилось работать в концлагере, хоть и сам заключенный, — охране помогать, но так, на побегушках. Well, what to do? Или так, или самому умереть!

Невозможно признать, что ты примкнул к злу. И мы видим, что, хотя Россия творит безусловное, неопровержимое, задокументированное многократно зло, большая часть жителей страны научилась это в лучшем случае игнорировать, а в худшем — поддерживать, хотя бы и декларативно. А некоторые поддерживают — повторюсь, с моей точки зрения, это меньшинство — искренне, но по другой причине.

У перехода на сторону зла и на сторону лжи есть долгосрочные последствия.

И когда морок рассеется и Владимир Владимирович Путин отправится в мир иной, ничего не кончится для людей, которые на сторону зла перешли, перешли на сторону лжи.

Во-первых, жизнь без хребта невозможна без отказа от веры в этику, в существование добра и зла, в существование допустимого и недопустимого. В качестве защитного механизма, механизма эмоционального и когнитивного приспособления люди вырабатывают у себя цинизм. И мне кажется, это дорога в один конец.

Я начинаю сейчас думать, что люди из поколения чуть старше моего, поколения 50-летних, как и путинское поколение, настолько циничны именно потому, что им самим пришлось в свое время отказаться от веры в то, что возможно добро и возможно зло. Циничны они потому, что они формировались в условиях тотальной лжи, навязанных невозможных и абсурдных декларативных норм и принципов, неприемлемых и презираемых и дома, и в семье, и в неформальном кругу общения и так далее. То есть у них имеется опыт двоемыслия — как результат прежнего принуждения их советским государством к публичному декларированию заведомой лжи, эрозии системы этических координат, здоровых базовых представлений о добре и зле. И как итог — допустимость зла, готовность людей этих поколений терпеть зло.

Смена позиции через личные жертвы может привести к отчаянной защите новой позиции, даже если позиция эта раньше казалась тебе совершенно ложной. Вот был ты к Сталину нейтрален, а потом у тебя забрали и репрессировали членов семьи, и, чтобы сохранить себя, ты начинаешь убеждать себя в том, что эта потеря была оправдана, что твои родные сами были во всем виноваты, что, действительно, они были троцкистами или английскими шпионами, или недостаточно Сталина любили. И если тебе удается себя в этом убедить, то ты, пройдя через такие огромные личные жертвы и настолько себя унизив, сломав себе собственными руками хребет с таким громким хрустом, занимаешь эту позицию теперь уже со рвением. Вот объяснение феномена сталинистов среди тех, кто сам пострадал от репрессий. Невозможность признать напрасной жертву отказа от себя самого.

То есть ждать, что каждый, вернувшийся теперь с войны, с фронта, потерявший руку, ногу или товарища, или матери, потерявшие своих сыновей, станут непременно противниками государства, нельзя. Может быть и наоборот. Чем бессмысленнее жертва, принесенная человеком, тем больше у него необходимость эту жертву себе объяснить, придать ей смысл. И учитывая, что это требует от тебя определенных усилий и происходит, повторю снова, через переламывание хребта самому себе, в этом случае позиция, которую ты занял, оплаченная кровью твоих близких людей, твоими собственными страданиями, унижением себя, может оказаться гораздо более истеричной и твердой, чем позиция, принятие которой не стоило тебе ничего.

А примыкание к силе, присоединение ко злу освобождает темные стороны человеческой души, и в особенности подвержены этому люди, сами однажды перенесшие унижение и травмированные этим.

Наконец, надо признать, что люди, примыкающие к силе, ко лжи и злу, на самом деле довольно много выигрывают, потому что освобождают себя тем самым от массы ограничений, этических ограничений, которые стесняют человека, рвущегося к определенным благам. И кроме того, злая сила обычно щедро вознаграждает своих сторонников, желая коррумпировать новых адептов.

Когда ты становишься на сторону зла, ты приобретаешь свободу чинить самоуправство и забирать блага у людей, находящихся по другую сторону баррикад. У любого геноцида всегда есть экономические мотивы. Занимаешь ли ты хату представителей народа тутси, забив их мотыгой, или выдираешь золотые зубы у людей в Освенциме, или отнимаешь состояние у гугенота, будучи ревностным католиком, — всегда имеется внятный дополнительный стимул. На одной лишь животной ненависти к представителям других групп далеко не уедешь.

Людям, которые познали свободу, даваемую злом, познали власть, даваемую силой, оказывается сложно вернуться к скучной, обычной добродетельной жизни. И в искренности раскаяния эсэсовских офицеров, и в искренности раскаянии большевистских палачей приходится сомневаться. Я думаю, что никто из них ни в чем искренне не раскаивался. Наоборот, они очень скучали по тем временам, когда такое было допустимо и возможно.

Завершить хотелось бы прогнозом для России. Мне кажется, что прогноз в этом плане, наверное, не катастрофический, но и не утешительный. Я думаю, что вот этот опыт принуждения личности к уверованию в заведомую ложь, унижения публичных людей, растаптывания их чувства человеческого достоинства, это приглашение их к пресмыканию, которое они пока всё еще достаточно неохотно, но всё более массово, как мы видим, принимают, безусловно, сформируют у нас очередное поколение циников, людей, способных к двоемыслию.

Пусть хотя бы не рабов: я буду последним, кто поверит в то, что русский человек раб генетически.

Я считаю, что условное «поколение Дудя» — это поколение людей, свободно и глобально мыслящих, стремящихся к свободе человеческой жизни и глобальному миру.

И именно в том, чтобы этих людей снова загнать в рабство, и заключалась цель замазывания русского народа кровью украинского народа, в этом и заключался план развязывания войны. Сама по себе Украина России не нужна, территории эти не нужны, население это не нужно. Нужно обеспечить покорность своего собственного народа еще на поколение вперед, что, собственно, и проделывается.

Хочется только верить, что хотя бы фигой в кармане наш человек сможет какое-то пассивное, тайное сопротивление этому всему оказывать. И — не сожранным и не жравшим других людей — переждать под корягой эскапизма и уклонизма очередной этап помрачения рассудка российского государства.

Свободный университет — сообщество преподавателей и студентов, учрежденное в Москве летом 2020 года после волны политических увольнений из Высшей школы экономики. Большая часть программ и курсов университета бесплатна для всех слушателей, все курсы проводятся онлайн без каких-либо ограничений для слушателей. После начала войны, «письма ректоров» и разгрома российских университетов Свободный университет остался крупнейшей независимой площадкой, работающей с программами высшего образования на русском языке. В марте 2023 года Свободный университет был признан властями РФ «нежелательной организацией». В сентябре 2023 года Свободный университет объявил набор на 56 новых курсов.
