Shoigu approved a list of diseases with which one cannot serve under contract during martial law and mobilization

From June, convicts and persons of limited fitness can enter into contracts with the Ministry of Defense

The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, approved a list of diseases, the presence of which makes a person partially fit for service unable to serve under a contract during mobilization, martial law and in wartime. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The list includes 26 diseases and conditions, including HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, type 1 diabetes, mental disorders, epilepsy, bronchial asthma, amputations, strokes and heart diseases accompanied by heart failure.

In addition, it is now impossible to enter contract service with some consequences of wounds, injuries and operations performed in connection with them. We are talking about the absence of the stomach, small and large intestines or kidneys.

In an explanatory note to the draft order, the Ministry of Defense explained that the list is necessary to implement the law allowing those with criminal records and those of limited fitness to enter into a contract with the Ministry of Defense during mobilization, martial law and in wartime. Vladimir Putin signed this law in June. According to the document, prisoners who have entered into a contract with the Ministry of Defense will be released early from serving their sentences.

The diseases listed in the new list of the Ministry of Defense partially coincide with the diseases in the presence of which the military registration and enlistment office must assign the conscript category D - “unfit”. In particular, a person with asthma, tuberculosis, HIV, regular attacks of epilepsy, schizophrenia and other diseases may be declared unfit for military service.
