A draft resolution on the termination of the powers of deputy Sergei Sokol was submitted to the State Duma. He withdrew his candidacy from the election of the head of Khakassia

The State Duma Commission on Mandate Issues submitted for consideration to the lower house of the Russian parliament a draft resolution on the early termination of powers of deputy from the United Russia faction Sergei Sokol. The document was published in the State Duma legislative activity database.

The draft resolution states that Sokol himself submitted an application to resign as deputy. The State Duma will consider this issue on September 19 - at the first meeting of the autumn session, it follows from the document.

The Brief telegram channel stated that the deputy could head the legislative assembly of the part of the Kherson region annexed by Russia. Ukrainian authorities suspect Kastyukevich of deporting 48 Ukrainian children from an orphanage in Kherson, notes Novaya Gazeta Europe.

• Sergei Sokol is a participant in the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a State Duma deputy from United Russia. He was registered as a government candidate in the election of the head of Khakassia. In them, Sokol had to compete with the current head of the region, communist Valentin Konovalov.

At the same time, he remained the leader of the party list in the elections to the Supreme Council of Khakassia, in which United Russia gained more than 36% of the votes.
