As large companies involved in the production of drones in Russia told the publication, they managed to replenish stocks of components before the restrictions were introduced by the Chinese authorities. Now Russian manufacturers are trying to obtain the necessary documents that will allow them to resume supplies of spare parts from China.

To do this, the Chinese supplier must obtain a license from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and clearance from customs, providing information about the final recipient. In turn, the authorities will check the recipient for presence on sanctions lists related to “military activities or actions undesirable for China.”

As Kommersant’s interlocutors in Russian companies noted, government departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, do not participate in negotiations with colleagues from China and do not help in arranging supplies.

Earlier, the CNN television channel, citing American intelligence data, reported that in the year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, China supplied Russia with drones and components for them worth at least $12 million. In turn, Politico, citing customs data, wrote that since the beginning of 2023, China has supplied more than $100 million worth of civilian drones to Russia.
